2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan: First Look
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan is entering its next chapter with its most comprehensive technological update to date. The new 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan brings together a more expressive exterior design, a refined and personalized cabin, advanced MB.OS technology and an enhanced electrified combustion powertrain.
Scheduled to arrive at U.S. Mercedes-Benz dealerships in the first half of 2027, the new C-Class Sedan builds on the qualities that have defined the model for generations while introducing meaningful advancements in design, comfort, connectivity and driving technology.
For drivers throughout Southern California, including Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, San Clemente, Aliso Viejo and Ladera Ranch, here is a closer look at what is coming with the 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan.
A More Expressive C-Class Sedan Design
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan remains instantly recognizable, but its familiar athletic silhouette receives a more distinctive visual identity. Changes to the front and rear help give the sedan greater presence while retaining the elegant proportions associated with the C-Class.
One of the most noticeable updates is the newly designed radiator grille. Chrome stars create the signature Mercedes-Benz pattern, while integrated LED contour lighting and an illuminated central Mercedes-Benz star introduce a striking new nighttime appearance. A gloss black panel visually connects the grille with the headlamps for a clean, cohesive front-end design.
New headlamps incorporate star-design daytime running lights, while the star motif continues at the rear with redesigned taillights. Sculpted front and rear bumpers, available 18-inch and 19-inch wheel designs and newly available exterior finishes further distinguish the latest C-Class Sedan.
Two new exterior colors join the palette: Miami Silver Metallic and Moody Sky Grey Metallic. Moody Sky Grey Metallic features a subtle blue-grey appearance designed to reveal changing nuances depending on the surrounding light.
New AMG® Line Plus
For drivers seeking an even sportier appearance, AMG® Line Plus will be available on the C-Class for the first time. Building upon AMG® Line, this optional configuration adds exterior and interior elements such as a gloss black spoiler lip and tailpipe trim, the Night Package, sports seats with red contrast stitching and red seat belts.
A Refined Interior Designed Around the Driver
Inside, the new C-Class Sedan combines elegant materials with an increasingly personalized digital environment. Mercedes-Benz describes the cabin around a “Welcome home” philosophy, creating an interior intended to feel comfortable, familiar and intuitive every time occupants enter the vehicle.
A 12.3-inch high-resolution driver display presents important information directly ahead of the driver, while the portrait-oriented 11.9-inch central multimedia display provides access to key vehicle functions. The multifunction steering wheel also receives an updated control concept with an ergonomic rocker for Digital Extra: Distance Assist DISTRONIC and a roller for volume control.
New Interior Colors and Materials
The interior offers additional opportunities for personalization through two new upholstery colors and three new trim elements. Beech Brown is available in MB-Tex, leather and Nappa leather, while Cherry Red is available in MB-Tex. New Natural Grain Birch Wood and High-Gloss Silver Metallic trim options further expand the cabin choices.
Ambient lighting contributes to the personalized environment with 64 individual colors and ten color worlds. Lighting extends across the center console, instrument panel and door areas, with adjustable brightness and multiple dimming zones. The system can also provide visual feedback for certain vehicle functions, including climate adjustments and Blind Spot Assist warnings.
Enhanced Burmester 3D Surround Sound
An available enhanced Burmester® 3D Surround Sound System with Dolby Atmos brings 15 speakers and a 710-watt amplifier to the C-Class. Occupants can adjust the spatial effect across ten levels and focus playback toward the first or second row. An automatic selection function can also detect which seats are occupied and adjust the sound focus accordingly.
MB.OS Brings a New Generation of Intelligence to the C-Class
Technology represents one of the most significant advancements for the 2027 C-Class Sedan. The Mercedes-Benz Operating System, or MB.OS, serves as the vehicle’s central digital foundation and supports over-the-air updates for vehicle software.
The new C-Class also introduces the fourth generation of MBUX with an AI-powered MBUX Virtual Assistant. The system incorporates artificial intelligence technologies from ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini to support more natural, contextual conversations.
The MBUX Virtual Assistant can retain conversational context, respond to multi-part questions and assist with topics ranging from navigation and points of interest to weather and other everyday information. It can even help identify music or podcast content from a conversation and begin playback through the vehicle’s infotainment system.
Google-Based Navigation and MBUX Surround Navigation
Navigation in the new C-Class is based on Google technology and integrates Google Maps with the Automotive AI Agent from Google Cloud. MBUX Surround Navigation can also provide a real-time 3D representation of the vehicle and surrounding traffic environment using information from the C-Class sensor and camera systems.
An optional MBUX Augmented Reality Head-up Display is also available on the C-Class for the first time. The system can place relevant guidance within the driver’s field of view to help make navigation through complex driving situations more intuitive.
Electrified 2.0-Liter Turbocharged Performance
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan continues with a combustion engine enhanced by integrated mild-hybrid technology. Its further-developed M 254 EVO 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine works with a second-generation integrated starter-generator and a 48-volt electrical system.
The engine produces 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. An overboost function can provide an additional 27 horsepower for approximately 20 seconds when activated. The integrated starter-generator can support the combustion engine at lower engine speeds with up to 23 horsepower and 151 lb-ft.
A newly developed electric auxiliary compressor is another important addition. Powered by the 48-volt electrical system, it can spool within milliseconds and work alongside the exhaust-gas turbocharger to support responsive, linear power delivery.
The 48-volt system also enables functions such as coasting and recuperation. Mercedes-Benz has engineered the interaction between the combustion engine and integrated starter-generator to provide smooth transitions between operating modes and refined start-stop functionality.
Updated Suspension for Greater Agility and Comfort
Mercedes-Benz has further developed the suspension of the new C-Class Sedan with the goal of providing more agile handling without sacrificing long-distance ride comfort. A stiffer connection and newly tuned adjustable damping help reduce body movement and allow the sedan to respond more directly to driver inputs.
The chassis combines a four-link front suspension with a multi-link rear design featuring a five-link concept for precise wheel control and stable straight-line performance.
Additional work has also been completed to create an even quieter passenger compartment. Aerodynamic refinements, redesigned exterior mirrors, additional windshield sealing, revised exhaust-system mounting and enhanced insulation all contribute to reduced wind noise and vibration. The new C-Class achieves a drag coefficient starting at 0.24.
Advanced MB.DRIVE Driver and Parking Assistance
The new C-Class features a comprehensive sensor suite consisting of eight cameras, five radar sensors and 12 ultrasonic sensors. These systems work with MB.OS and a central control unit to process information about the surrounding driving environment.
MB.DRIVE Standard can assist with functions including lane keeping, maintaining distance, braking and acceleration. Maneuvering Assist can provide braking assistance when reversing at low speeds if the vehicle detects a risk of an imminent collision.
Digital Extra: MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST 360 is also included as standard equipment and incorporates a 360 Camera with enhanced surround-view displays. The new Digital Extra: Reverse Maneuvering Function can automatically retrace part of a recently driven route in certain situations, helping when there may not be sufficient space to conveniently turn the vehicle around.
Optional DIGITAL LIGHT with Micro-LED Technology
The next generation of optional DIGITAL LIGHT introduces micro-LED technology to the C-Class. According to Mercedes-Benz, the system provides a larger high-resolution illumination field while operating up to 50 percent more efficiently than the previous-generation system. Its software modules are integrated directly into MB.OS.
